Independent. Sweet. and Charming. :D

And after all the things they had done and seen, he could not imagine that either of them would be content to live in such an ordinary, isolated place.

For the sky is hollow and the world is round…

He had no desire to eke out a living from the land as his family had during his childhood. He and Saphira were a Rider and dragon; their doom and destiny was to fly at the forefront of history, not to sit before a fire and grow fat and lazy.

A UP professor demanded a 10-page essay about “courage”. The following meeting, everyone submitted their laboriously done essays. Yet, for someone clever enough:

page 1: First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name
page 2: *blank*
page 3: *blank*
page 4: *blank*
page 5: *blank*
page 6: *blank*

page 10: This is courage.

“Me: Lola, magsalita nga po kayo ng Japanese.
Lola: [speaking in Japanese]
Me: Nakapunta na po ba kayo sa Japan?
Lola: Hindi pa.
Me: Punta tayo!
Lola: Sige.
Me: Punta din tayong UAE, bisitahin natin sila papa.
Lola: Sige.
Me: Tapos sa Singapore na din. And China and Australia.
Lola: Oo pupuntahan natin lahat yan, basta magaling na ako.”

My brother bought me this set for my 21st birthday. Yeah, sweet :)

The book The Perks of Being a Wallflower taught me one valuable lesson on celebrating birthdays. It said while the child gets all the gifts, the child should give a gift to his mother since the mother was there too. That it should be a tradition. So on my birthday I’m going to give my mother a gift. And because she’s miles away, I thought of this one.

To Mama: This is my gift to you on my birthday. It isn’t much, but I notice you always sing to this tune whenever I play this song on our piano back in Pangasinan. I’ve originally thought of doing a video of me playing this but I don’t have any camcorders at home. So instead I’ve recorded this one on the eve of my birthday, using the laptop you have given me. I hope you like it.

I had been sitting around all day playing the piano and it just felt right. I wish I have plenty of times like this where I could polish further my old pieces and learn new ones. As they say, your music grows and matures with you.. My style has been blending in to an array of sorts: from classical pieces to kundiman love songs, to popular pop songs. Sometimes I just watch my fingers dance joyfully, pound heavily, jump snappily and run hastily as though they have a life of their own. Although my repertoire isn’t that impressive, I promised myself to continue to put passion on my playing.

That night I was supposed to watch a piano concert I’ve been obsessing for weeks. But instead I went out for a dinner with my officemates.
And I was glad I did. :)
